Features
Panama is a Central American country located on the Pacific coast, situated on the isthmus that connects North and South America. Shaped by both Spanish colonial heritage and American influence, the nation presents a harmonious blend of classical Spanish elegance and modern Western development. Panama City, the capital, is home to the world-renowned Panama Canal—a vital maritime passage linking the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and serving as one of the key arteries of global trade.
The Church of God in Panama was established through ongoing short-term mission efforts by members of the Church of God in the United States.[1] Since then, the members in Panama City have actively preached the truth of the new covenant and shared the love of God the Mother, connecting hearts across continents and oceans.
Following Christ’s teaching, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” [2] they endeavor to serve their communities with the heartfelt devotion of a mother caring for her home—through acts of love, compassion, and stewardship.
In cooperation with the National Association for the Conservation of Nature (ANCON), the Church has organized coastal cleanup initiatives.[3] In 2023, in partnership with Korean members of ASEZ WAO—the Church of God Young Adult Worker Volunteer Group—members carried out a “No More GPGP (Great Pacific Garbage Patch)” cleanup campaign at El Florista Park on Cinta Costera Beach.[4] As a result of these efforts, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs. The Church received multiple honors in recognition of its contributions to environmental protection and water quality improvement, including Certificates of Appreciation from ANCON,[5] the Minister of Environment,[6] the President of the Marine Environmental Protection Association,[7] and the Mayor of the Rufina Alfaro District.[8]
Additionally, the Church regularly organizes blood drives to support patients suffering from critical blood shortages.[9][10][11] These events—held at various local institutions, including children’s hospitals—have helped save lives and bring hope to young patients and their families.
