Features

Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco in west-central Mexico, is known for its mild climate and a cityscape that harmoniously blends ancient traditions with modern culture, drawing visitors from around the world. In the heart of the city, mariachi performances—recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage—are held regularly, and each September the traditional Mexican equestrian sport charrería takes place.

Tlaquepaque, where the Church of God in Guadalajara is located, forms part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area. In this region, where traditional culture coexists with contemporary urban life, members of the Church of God faithfully observe the seven feasts in three times of the new covenant, following the teachings of Jesus and upholding the faith and practices of the early Church. They actively preach the gospel and, in keeping with the biblical exhortation to show mercy like the Good Samaritan,[1] carry out diverse volunteer initiatives for their neighbors and community.

Since 2014, the members have organized ongoing blood drives in cooperation with institutions such as the State Blood Transfusion Center in Jalisco and the Western National Medical Center. These efforts have been welcomed by the State Blood Transfusion Center, which had faced challenges due to a shortage of donors. The altruistic and voluntary contributions of the members have been featured in various media reports, and in recognition of their dedicated service, the Ministry of Health and the State Blood Transfusion Center in Jalisco have presented the Church with plaques of appreciation.[2][3][4]

In addition, members regularly participate in cleanup efforts on streets and in public squares to help maintain pleasant cultural spaces for citizens. They have removed waste and debris in areas such as Morelos Park, Ávila Camacho Park, and Revolución Park, as well as along major streets in the downtown area. Volunteers from ASEZ, the church’s university student volunteer group, have also conducted cleanups at the Polytechnic University of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable campus environment.
